Due to the flood disaster situation that prevailed during the “Dithwa” severe cyclonic storm, a large number of houses in the Kotikawatta and Kolonnawa areas were damaged, and approximately 28 out of the 33 Grama Niladhari divisions in the Kotikawatta area were inundated by floodwaters.

In response to this disaster situation, following the instructions of the Honorable Governor of the Western Province, special waste removal operations have been carried out under the leadership of the Western Province Waste Management Authority, in collaboration with the Kotikawatta–Mulleriyawa Pradeshiya Sabha.
