Mihisaru Awards is conducted by the Waste Management Authority of the Western Province (WMA-WP) to appreciate the active participation and contributions made by state and private sector institutions to better manage the waste in the province. The nominees are shortlisted from a pool of waste management projects carried out in a variety of fields under WMA supervision. A professional panel of judges chooses the best participants after a meticulous study conducted over a considerable period.
The eminent panel of judges plays a pivotal role in selecting the winners. The awards include certificates of appreciation, merit awards, bronze, silver and gold awards and a platinum award for the best of the best. In addition, there is an award for special appreciation and a rare life-time award.
