In line with “World Cleanup Day” on September 20, 2025, a major cleanup program was successfully conducted in the Thalapathpitiya area, organized jointly by the Western Provincial Council, the Waste Management Authority (Western Province), the Maharagama Urban Council, and several other government institutions.

The event was held under the patronage of Hon. Haniffa Yusuf, Governor of the Western Province, with the participation of Hon. Dewananda Suraveera, Member of Parliament for Colombo District, Hon. Saman Samarakoon, Chairman of the Maharagama Urban Council, Hon. Chathura Kahadawaarachchi, Chairman of the Waste Management Authority (Western Province), and the members of the Maharagama Urban Council, along with representatives and staff members from all supporting state institutions.
